VISIONQUEST: WHAT TO EXPECT
October 14th is just over a month away at the time of this writing, and that is when we will embark on yet another adventure in the form of Marvel Television. VisionQuest will be the deepest look yet at the character known as Vision, or rather White Vision, and we will follow him as he explores his regained memories and humanity while dealing with a challenge from Ultron. Yes, THAT Ultron. Once a big bad earlier in the MCU, he is also the father of White Vision, and if you haven't noticed, fatherhood will be a huge theme for this series. More specifically, fathers and sons connecting. Ultron and Vision. Vision and Tommy. Vision and Tommy with Billy (you read that right). Ultron wanting a son of his own.
Let's get to the heart of this: This series is a follow up in the saga that began with Wandavision, followed by Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, and continued in Agatha All Along. The running thread in all of those projects? The children. Tommy and Billy. We learned in Agatha the souls of Tommy and Billy were reincarnated into 2 other teens and we are now on a collision course of reuniting them with the rest of the family. Following the journey of The Witches' Road, we saw Agatha (who is now a ghost), head off with Billy on a mission to find Tommy. With that being said, VisionQuest serves a starting point for a new story, rather than focusing on connecting to the greater MCU. That story, is the comic run called Avengers: The Children's Crusade.

Here at The C.A.G.E., we have known about this development since 2020, when we first shared that this story was going to be loosely adapted for the MCU. The Children's Crusade follows Wiccan aka Billy Maximoff, a member of the Young Avengers team (will be known as Champions in the MCU), as he loses control of his powers and decides to find the Scarlet Witch, whom he believes is his mother, so that he does not end up like her. At the same time, other characters, mainly Avengers and X-Men also search for her, as Scarlet Witch has shaken the entire world following the events of House of M, where Wanda uttered the infamous line, "No More Mutants." Doctor Doom is also a big part of this story, as he is engaged to Scarlet Witch, who has amnesia, because he is trying to steal her powers for himself. This feels like the natural evolution in this mini saga, and it already has built in connections going forward for Doomsday, even though that is not the goal here.
As a bonus, we will also see Jim Hammond, the ORIGINAL Human Torch in this series. He was teased during the D23 event within the VisionQuest display. Human Torch is an artificial human whose synthetic cells bursts into flames. He was part of the Invaders, a team that featured him, Namor, and Captain America. He was an easter egg in Captain America: The First Avenger film as being on display in a glass box. I mentioned Ultron wanting a son of his own. Well, comic wise, Ultron used Jim Hammond's blueprint to create Vision. Now in the MCU it was Tony Stark who created Vision, so it will be very interesting to see how Feige will flip this history on its head even more.
