Young Scholar and Athlete - Jordan Cortez

Jordan has interest all across the collegiate scene to continue his basketball career and he is taking his senior year to maximize his prospects.
2T's Media has the honor to walk a mile in his shoes. Cal Lutheran, a private university in Thousand Oaks California, reached out to Jordan for a visit and workout sessions. This would help with building interest and rapport with the facility and team.
Jordan Cortez averages 16.7 points per game, 7 rebounds, 2.6 steals a game (via TruScout), with the athleticism to guard multiple positions and disrupt the passing lanes. He’s a high effort finisher, willing to attack the basket and play through contact. He was awarded the 8th Grade Athlete of the Year, Freshman Team MVP, 2025-2026 Varsity Offensive Player of the Year, and earned 1st Team All-League recognition as a junior.
Now, Jordan doesn’t want the “student” part of student athlete to be forgot. He boasts a 3.8 GPA, while also taking college level courses. Mathematics is a major interest of his and he's well on his way to earning an associate’s degree & has previously earned honor roll for his sophomore and junior years.
This young athletic scholar also gives back to his community. One of his philosophies is that basketball connects us all to something larger than just what happens on the court. He works with preteen and teens to share his knowledge and skills while coaching the Run-As-One Summer Basketball and local recreation programs. He serves as a swim coach for the Atwater Stingrays summer swim program.
His goal: to Be The Beast; rather than prove he's the best.
Jordan's family is a center piece in his story, for example, he colored his hair during the season as a tribute to his late grandmother. Even his tattoos display his family and philosophies. A rising tide raises all ships, and Jordan wants to be the change that benefits everyone around him. Something he has learned from his father, who is an important adviser for Jordan as he learns from his experiences, wisdom and judgment.
