A Portuguese retailer has posted the alleged price point for the game's November 19th release.
- Standard Edition: €89.99
- Deluxe Edition: €109.99
- Premium Edition: €129.99
- Collector’s Edition: €199.99
If this leak is true, GTA 6 will be one of the most expensive games released yet. Not many other releases could get away with this, but Rockstar's flagship series may have that kind of motion.
GTA V launched in 2013 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 before receiving ports on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and eventually enhanced versions for modern hardware nearly a decade later (PS5/XBX/S). Prior to that it was only 5 years between GTA IV (2008) and GTA V, making this the largest gap in franchise history. Few products have maintained cultural relevance like Grand Theft Auto has.
So, with this new entry 12 years in the making, it is one of the most highly anticipated games in modern gaming history. But is that enough to justify the price increase? There has been a lot of gamer backlash to increasing monetization and price points to game releases. Rockstar may be one of the few studios that could get away with pushing the envelope on gaming releases.
Recently, Take Two Interactive CEO did mention on a recent earnings call that the game pricing should match the value delivered to the customer. This has widely been interpreted as an increase in price point for the consumer. GTA VI may not simply be the biggest release of 2026. It could become the game that determines just how much consumers are willing to pay for the future of AAA gaming.
Pre-orders open June 25th. The C.A.G.E. will see you then.
