Until Dawn 2 Is the Sequel Nobody Saw Coming

Have you ever wanted to direct your own horror movie? Or maybe star in your own horror game? During PlayStation's recent State of Play presentation, Sony announced the sequel few fans expected: Until Dawn 2
Rather than continuing the story from the original game, the sequel is a "standalone experience" featuring a new cast and tropical setting. Newcomers won't need to play through the first game to jump into this latest thriller.
Speaking of the original...Until Dawn launched on PS4 in 2015 and quickly became a fan favorite thank to its branching narrative and choice-driven gameplay. The game later was rebuilt and enhanced for PS5 in 2024 and even got a movie adaption. Players were constantly forced to make split-second decisions: Do you hide in the shed or make a run for the bridge? Do you save your friend or leave them behind?

Every choice matter, and they still matter in the sequel.
The new game follows a group of ghost hunters whose qualifications may be a bit exaggerated. They have grown a following online through staged paranormal encounters. Unfortunately for them, this fully funded tropical encounter has horrors waiting ahead that are very real. Will they be able to survive until dawn?
One major change behind the scene is the development team. The original was created by Supermassive Games, while the sequel is being developed by Firespirte. Their first outing was a collaboration with Guerilla Games for Horizon: Call of the Mountain.

For now, Until Dawn 2 is scheduled to release in 2027 and personally I am smelling a Fall release for maximum spooky season vibes. Sony has promised additional details to come in the next few months so you horror fans may want to start planning how you'll survive the night.
